About Us:

How old is Dolly Parton? To learn about Dolly Parton’s age, it is first important to know what her birth date is. Dolly Rebecca Parton, who was popular for her country music, was born on the 19th of January in the year 1946. She was the fourth child in her family, who lived in a small town in Tennessee. Her family did not have much money while Parton was a child. This poverty was the inspiration for several of the songs written by Parton that later went on to become famous. During her childhood years, the family lived in a house that had only one room. Music was an important part of her life from a very young age. Because of her background in the church, many of the songs performed by Parton have spiritual themes or content. She first began her career in music at a young age, appearing on local shows both on the radio and on television to sing. By the time that she was nine years old, she had regular appearances scheduled for popular local television and radio stations in the Knoxville area in Tennessee. By the time that she was thirteen years old, she recorded her very first single with a label based out of Louisiana, appearing to promote her single at a famous Opry house in Nashville. Based on that performance, she was able to meet with the popular star, Johnny Cash, who encouraged Parton to continue performing in her own way, without giving in to the demands of the industry. She finished her high school education in 1964 and relocated to Nashville, where she began to establish a successful career working as a songwriter. She was able to obtain a record deal in 1965, first being marketed as a pop star. Under this genre, she was unable to obtain success, but later was allowed to work in country music, where her greatest hits were later released. This led to the publication of her very first album, which was entitled “Hello, I’m Dolly.” Parton married in 1966 to a man that she has remained married to for over 45 years. Although she doesn’t have children herself, she was named by the Cyrus family as the godmother to their daughter, Miley, who is also a well-known musical performer. Her husband, Dean, does not like the limelight and is rarely seen alongside of Parton when she is on tour.
