Actor/screenwriter Charles Matthew Hunnam’s birthday is April 10, 1980. Hunnam has had a lengthy career in television, and some of the roles for which he is best known are on “Queer as Folk” as Nathan Maloney at the age of 18 (but playing a 15 year-old), Lloyd Haythe on Fox’s “Undeclared” (cancelled after only one season, despite critical acclaim), and, most recently, as “Jax” Teller on the FX hit series “Sons of Anarchy.” He also played Pete Dunham in the film “Green Street Hooligans,” but his Cockney accent attempt was panned by numerous critics and is often included in their “Worst Accents in Movie History” lists. Hunnam was offered his first television role on the British children’s series “Byker Grove” after he was spotted goofing off in a shoe store by the production manager. Hunnam played “Jason” for a total of three episodes. Some of his other television roles included “Daz” on “Whatever Happened to Harold Smith?” and “Gregor Ryder” on the WB Network’s “Young Americans.” Hunnam also appeared in the films “Abandon,” “Nicholas Nickleby,” “Cold Mountain,” and “Children of Men.” Hunnam has stated after starring in “Children of Men” that he is done with playing “mad men” characters. In 2009, Hunnam successfully sold a screenplay he wrote (“Vlad”) to Summit Entertainment with actor Brad Pitt’s Plan B Studios acting as co-producer. The film will feature Dracula as a youthful prince.
